Gut Fitness Group Coaching Program takes you on a journey towards a healthier microbiome. Brought to you by experts in the field of nutrition and lifestyle medicine, this program teaches you strategies that may help you achieve more balanced gut health, reduce your risk of disease, and improve your quality of life. Learn how caring for your gut could give you a new lease on life!

Are chronic digestive issues affecting your quality of life?

Based on research, gastrointestinal issues affect more people than those who suffer from heart disease and cancer combined. In fact, digestive issues are one of top reasons for visits to the doctor or use of over-the-counter remedies.

Your gut is one of the most sophisticated systems in your body.

We often think that the gastrointestinal tract is only for digestion, assimilation, and elimination, but those are only one aspect of the role that your gut plays in your overall health. Your GI tract is the gateway to your body. If your gut health is compromised, your overall health is also compromised. That’s why it’s important to check the health of your gut when dealing with other health issues.

What happens in your gut doesn’t stay in your gut.
The above infographic shows many of the conditions associated with impaired gut function. These conditions can range from heartburn to severe, even terminal, illness. Your GI tract has four core functions which we call the Pillars of GI Health:

• Digestion & Absorption
• Elimination & Detoxification
• Microbiome
• Barrier Function

The proper interrelationship of these four functions or pillars is what constitutes a healthy gut. When all the pillars are working properly and in harmony with each other, few symptoms are likely to occur. However, when one area or pillar is compromised, it places strain upon the other areas. For example, when the lining of your gut becomes inflamed – whether due to food sensitivities, poor diet, medication, overgrowth of harmful bacteria, or chronic stress – it’s natural barrier function is negatively impacted, causing your gut to become permeable or “leaky”. Increased intestinal permeability can lead to problems in your immune, nervous, and endocrine systems as seen in the infographic above.
